1866 Living History Weekend: The Circle of Fire & Lantern Tour

Experience Fort Laramie as it comes alive with soldiers, civilians and living historians representing the people who once called this military post home.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can watch military drills, guard mount ceremonies, cannon firings, small-arms demonstrations and Junior Ranger activities. Saturday evening will also include ranger programs and a lantern tour through the historic fort.

Friday, August 7

7:00 PM — Army camp is set up and ready

Saturday, August 8

8:45 AM — Recommended arrival time for artists and photographers attending guard mount
9:00 AM — Guard mount, flag raising and cannon firing at the Parade Grounds
10:00 AM — Military drill
10:30 AM — Junior Ranger Kids Drill
11:30 AM — Small-arms demonstration
12:30 PM — Cannon firing
1:00 PM — Fatigue detail
2:00 PM — Bayonet drill
2:30 PM — Small-arms demonstration
3:00 PM — Recall from drill
3:30 PM — Junior Ranger drill
5:00 PM — Dinner
6:00 PM — Flag retreat and cannon demonstration
6:30 PM — Ranger program
7:30 PM — Ranger program
8:30 PM — Lantern tour

Sunday, August 9
