Start small; think big.
That’s how Judith Bartmann—owner of LaGrange-based Bear Creek Rubs, LLC—approached the art of building her homegrown brand into the regionally renowned success it’s become today.
With support from Progress Program funds, Goshen County’s business-friendly environment, and ongoing encouragement from our team and the local community alike, Judith is thrilled to report that “Wyoming’s commitment to fostering local entrepreneurship, paired with Go Goshen’s hands-on support, has been key to our growth and sustainability.”
We know you’ll feel just as inspired as we did after reading Judith’s story; an adventure in taking strategic steps toward long-term sustainability, rooted in hard work and creativity:
As a retired college professor with deep roots in rural life, I returned to the values I was raised with on a farm and ranch in southern Colorado: hard work, creativity, and a passion for good food.
After settling in southern Wyoming, I launched Bear Creek Rubs, a family-run spice blend business that began at local farmer’s markets and has since grown into a regional brand.
We chose to build our business in Goshen County because of the supportive, close-knit community and the county’s strong commitment to small businesses. The entrepreneurial spirit here is tangible, and the resources available through Go Goshen made it clear this was the right place to grow.
Go Goshen has been instrumental in the development of Bear Creek Rubs. Their support has included grants that helped us trademark our logo, expand our inventory to fulfill larger wholesale orders, and access essential training opportunities through workshops and personalized counseling. These resources have directly contributed to our ability to scale our operations and position our brand for long-term success.
The state of Wyoming’s business-friendly environment has also played a crucial role in our journey. With a focus on economic development and small business support, we’ve been able to take strategic steps that would have been difficult in other states.
Wyoming’s commitment to fostering local entrepreneurship, paired with Go Goshen’s hands-on support, has been key to our growth and sustainability.
We are proud to be a part of the Goshen County business community and are grateful for the partnerships that have empowered Bear Creek Rubs to thrive.
The spirit of growth and progress is alive and well in Goshen County, and there’s no greater thrill for us than to pair businesses of all sizes with the grants, business finance programs, and support they need to succeed.
You hear us say it all the time, but it’s true: In Goshen County, small business is big business. That’s why our top priority is the retention and expansion of local businesses, and getting to celebrate their success is one of the best parts of the work we do.
