FORT LARAMIE, Wyoming — This year, in 2025, the Town of Fort Laramie marked a significant milestone, celebrating 100 years since its incorporation in 1925. The Centennial year was highlighted by the return of a much-missed community celebration, bringing residents and visitors together to honor Fort Laramie’s history and strong sense of community.

Go Goshen formally recognized the current Fort Laramie Town Council during its December board meeting with a Community Recognition Award. The award acknowledges the past and present Council’s service, leadership, and continued dedication to Fort Laramie and Goshen County, as well as their efforts to reestablish a large-scale community event that had been absent for many years.

The Centennial event welcomed families and visitors from across the county and featured games, activities, local vendors, food trucks, and limited-edition Centennial items. The celebration reflected Fort Laramie’s focus on community involvement and highlighted the importance of gathering to celebrate shared history.

“Milestones like a 100th anniversary allow us to recognize the people behind the progress,” said Moriah Harkins, Chamber Director at Go Goshen. “The Fort Laramie Town Council’s commitment to bringing the community together is exactly the type of leadership that strengthens towns and benefits Goshen County as a whole. Communities across the county have missed events that bring neighbors together, and Fort Laramie’s leadership is helping return to that grassroots spirit.”

Town leaders have indicated that the Centennial celebration was intended to serve as the foundation for a new annual community event, with plans already underway to continue the tradition in future years.

Go Goshen encourages residents to watch for details on next year’s Fort Laramie community celebration, as the event is expected to return and grow in the years ahead.
