Torrington, WY – The Goshen County 4-H Robotics Club, also known as the Gear Gremlins, has been awarded a $2,500 grant from the Community Pride Foundation to support the purchase of 10 new iPads. This investment will enhance access to technology for local youth and elevate the club’s ability to deliver high-quality STEM education experiences.

Currently serving 30 students from elementary through high school, the Gear Gremlins program offers a hands-on learning environment where students develop skills in coding, engineering, and teamwork. With this funding, each robotics team will have access to up-to-date technology compatible with the LEGO Spike Prime and VEX IQ platforms, which are foundational to robotics competitions across the state.

“The youth gain confidence by building and programming a robot that must complete a course with specific requirements,” said Amy Smith, Interim 4-H Extension Educator. “They then compete alongside peers from across Wyoming; they learn to communicate effectively with teammates and new acquaintances. Through the design and programming process, they gain valuable experience using technology in a creative and goal-oriented way.”

The iPads will replace outdated tablets that limit the teams’ ability to interact with newer robotics software. The club has also secured additional support through sponsorships and registration fees, helping to ensure its long-term sustainability.

With this investment, the Gear Gremlins look forward to continued growth, increased access, and deeper engagement for Goshen County youth exploring futures in STEM.
