TORRINGTON, WY – Go Goshen is proud to announce the award of a $20,000 Progress Program Infrastructure Grant to the City of Torrington to support the replacement of critical safety equipment for the Torrington Volunteer Fire Department and Rural Fire District #3.

The funding has assisted in purchasing four Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), commonly known as air packs, which are an essential part of a firefighter’s personal protective equipment. These air packs allow firefighters to safely breathe in toxic, smoke-filled, and oxygen-deprived environments during emergency response situations.

The department’s current equipment is three standards behind current National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommendations, which advise departments to operate with equipment no more than two standards behind. Replacing these units is critical to maintaining firefighter safety and ensuring effective emergency response for the community.

The Torrington Volunteer Fire Department serves the community with dedicated volunteer personnel who rely on dependable, up-to-date equipment to perform their duties safely. This investment supports not only firefighter safety but also the protection of residents, businesses, and property throughout Torrington and the surrounding areas.

The City of Torrington has already approved this project within its Fiscal Year 2026 budget, with funding supported in part by the City’s 8 mill property tax levy. The Progress Program Infrastructure Grant strengthens this local investment by helping offset the cost of essential equipment upgrades.
